Book Now

If the system does not let you book, we are most likely full for those dates, so please try a different date.

Whilst we will do our best to accommodate individual pitch preferences, we reserve the right to move your pitch/area allocation.

Please be aware that we are a woodland campsite, pitches are amongst the trees. We have composting loos and hot showers. We do not allow amplified music, hen & stag parties or groups all under the age of 21. For more detail, see our FAQs.

We love a campfire here at Badgells. However, based on the weather patterns of the last few years, if you are planning to visit us during the hot summer months, we would advise you to be prepared and also bring a camping stove with you - if we have a sustained period without any rain, sadly there’s a high chance of us having to put in place a fire ban…and we wouldn’t want you to go hungry!

If you are only booking experiences such as Bushcraft or Forest Bathing, please use the link below. If you are booking as part of a camping trip, please carry on and put your dates in below. (Click “Show Terms & Conditions” for further details on your chosen activity)

Booking FAQs

  • All of our pitches are within the woods and some of them can only fit tents up to a certain size. Please email before booking if you have a large or a 6/8-man tent to check that we can allocate you an appropriate pitch – we may not be able to if the larger pitches are already gone.

  • Please note that pitches are generally allocated on a first come, first served basis, when booking online. If you are a group booking, please contact us directly to discuss first so that we can check availability of large pitches, otherwise you may not be able to pitch your tents together. Whilst we will do our best to accommodate individual pitch preferences, we reserve the right to move your pitch/area allocation, particularly should Covid-19 restrictions necessitate.

  • Please check-in at the following times
    Camping & Campervans:
    Monday to Thursday, 2pm – 6pm
    Friday & Saturday, 2pm – 7pm
    Sunday, 2pm – 5pm

    Bell Tents:
    Monday to Thursday, 3pm – 6pm
    Friday & Saturday, 3pm – 7pm
    Sunday, 3pm – 5pm

Please note that reception may be closed between 1pm and 2pm daily, except during extremely busy periods. Please do not arrive on site before 2pm as we will not be able to check you in.

  • On your day of departure we ask that you pack-up and vacate your pitch by 11am (10am for Bell Tents). You are welcome to stay on and enjoy the woods after you have packed up by arrangement with Karina. For large pitches and groups, please agree your departure time with Karina.

  • We are set up for nature lovers and their families who want to get out amongst it. Sadly, we cannot accept bookings from groups where the average age is under 21 (except school bookings) to ensure the quiet enjoyment of the woods for everyone else. Drunk and disorderly behaviour will not be tolerated, and we reserve the right to ask you to leave should this occur.

Our policy is to charge by the person per night to keep it simple (with the exception of bell tents where the charge is just per night, with a minimum of 2 nights). In normal circumstances, we will do our best to accommodate big groups and your various configurations; Gazebo’s, VW Camper Vans and specific areas, etc.

Please note that we charge by the person. So, if you are aged 3 or over, a charge will be incurred.

  • We do not allow amplified music, although you are very welcome to bring acoustic instruments or join in with some campfire songs..! Our wardens will do walk-arounds from 10pm onwards to check that all is quiet. If we have reports of your late-night behaviour disturbing neighbouring campers, you will be asked to leave the next morning without a refund for any remaining nights.

  • Campfires are all part of the true camping experience and every pitch has a firepit. We sell seasoned firewood on site – it is certified and grown in our woodlands.

During exceptionally dry or windy weather we may have to impose a campsite-wide fire ban for your safety and that of other campers. During a fire ban we cannot allow campfires, coal, charcoal, disposable bbq’s or any other solid fuel fired cookers. If you are found with any of these alight during a ban you will be asked to leave with no refund. You can of course bring gas bbq/camping stoves. During a fire ban, we will refund all pre-paid log purchases & grill hires on arrival. All other booking terms are as normal. Any fire restrictions will be posted on our homepage and you will be notified either on or before arrival.

Please note that if your group is foraging for deadwood, not being responsible with your fire or unreasonably disturbing other campers or our neighbours, you will be asked to leave without any refund whatsoever.

  • We only have space for 8 campervans, and these can only be small VW type vans. Please make sure you contact us to reserve a space.

  • See our School of Nature and Bushcraft page for details of our on-site activities. Please note that there is a minimum number of people required per session. If a session is under-booked, we reserve the right to change the timing or, if necessary, cancel your session, in which case we will, of course, refund it.

  • We have to ask for full payment on bookings due to the online booking system. Bookings are 90% refundable for individual/family bookings cancelled at least 14 days before your arrival date and for group bookings at least 28 days before arrival. Or, if you give us sufficient notice, we can try to transfer your booking to later in the season if we still have space.

  • Please see our Covid-19 page for details.

  • Due to demand, we have a minimum 2-night stay for weekends (Friday & Saturday) and a minimum 3-night stay for Bank Holidays (Fri/Sat/Sun). However please do call nearer the time for last minute spaces and cancellations as we might be able to accommodate single night stays.

  • You can bring cash for essentials or we do also have a card reader on site.

  • We are a woodland campsite and, as a result, it can get muddy! If the British weather has been throwing its best shot at us, please remember to bring your wellies!
