‘FROM SMALL ACORNS GROW MIGHTY OAKS’

(Well, actually it’s made entirely from our own Sweet Chestnut coppice, but we couldn’t find a suitable pun to fit with that! Anyway, am sure you get our drift!)

Say hello to our newly-constructed play-area! 👋🏻 We’re so excited that the long-planned-for tree-house, deisgned by our friends @hortus_collective has now become a reality for our young explorers!

Our in-house team were joined by two experienced carpenters to craft it. It was entirely built using Sweet Chestnut coppiced only 100 metres from the play area, which was then milled into planks and beams on our estate sawmill.

Our forestry apprentice, Sam, felled the trees, extracted the timber with the tractor and crane trailer and placed it on the saw-bench. He then milled the timber and helped to put it together...I think that’s his apprenticeship complete! (As a result we are looking for a new apprentice to join our team – do get in touch if you know anyone.)

And, don’t worry, for those older children who had been enjoying the challenges of the playground loop…that got a re-fresh too!
